IND vs NZ: The penultimate fixture of the three-match T20I series between India and New Zealand occurred in the Ekana Stadium of Lucknow earlier today (January 28). The much-anticipated encounter between international heavyweights remained a last-over thriller with hosts India achieving a close victory. The crucial triumph helped India level the series with a margin of 1-1.
The renowned middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav, the No. 1 ranked T20I batter starred for the Indian team in the low-scoring affair with a 26-run knock. Yadav finished the game in a fitting fashion with a boundary in the last over. It was a clinical performance from the Indian team throughout the significant chunk of the game, barring middle overs while batting.
Washington Sundar gets out in an unfortunate fashion!
Washington Sundar’s dismissal during the second innings of the Lucknow T20I remained a highly talked about point across social media platforms. Sundar lost his wicket in the form of a run-out after an embarrassing mix-up with non-striker Suryakumar Yadav. The episode occurred during the 15th over after Yadav attempted a reverse sweep against Glenn Phillips. The main reason behind the dismissal was poor calling and confusion between the renowned batters.
“All of us have been on our toes and I’m sure everyone in the stadium and people watching on TV as well would have been on toes. It’s exciting and we are all happy that we won the game. It was very important for him (SKY) to stay till the end and certain things like that happen in a game. Especially when things get quite tough in the middle, one misjudgment happens.” said Washington Sundar in the post-match presentation

Earlier, India opener Ishan Kishan lost his wicket in the form of a run-out as well. It was a decent day on the field for Washington Sundar, especially with the ball. The all-round contributed with a crucial dismissal of Devon Conway, conceding just 17 runs in his three-over quota. Moreover, he appeared in command during his short 10-run stay at the crease before getting run out.
