Rajat Patidar, the ace Madhya Pradesh batter, made his India test debut in the ongoing test match against England. Patidar received his maiden test cap from veteran pacer Zaheer Khan ahead of the proceeding India-England test at Vizag. Following an impressive run in domestic cricket, the 30-year-old was called into the Indian squad on the eve of the series, as a replacement for absent Virat Kohli.
The second fixture of the ongoing test series between India and England formally kicked off today (February 2) in the city of Vizag. The opening day of the marquee affair remained a blockbuster, witnessing hosts India score 336 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young opening batter, headlined the Day 1 in Vizag with a marathon hundred. At the stumps, Jaiswal returned unbeaten on 179 after facing 257 balls.

‘Unfortunate’ Rajat Patidar Gets Out Played On After A Solid Start
English leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed dismissed Rajat Patidar following his solid start with the bat today. Patidar’s impressive hammering in Vizag reached its end in a rather unfortunate manner. As it happened, the middle-order batter got out as the ball struck straight into the stumps – from his bat – after he attempted to play a defensive shot off Rehan Ahmed. Patidar appeared frustrated during his long way back to the dugout.

Rajat Patidar struck 32 runs off 72 deliveries in the first innings of his test career, today in Vizag. The Royal Challengers Bangalore batter appeared formidable and managed to hit three boundaries during his stay at the crease. Fans now keenly wait to see what Patidar has to offer in India’s second innings in the ongoing red-ball five-day affair.
“I would love to double this up, and play till the end for the team. I want to recover well for tomorrow now. The pitch played a bit differently, in the morning it was a bit damp and then it settled. With the older ball, there was some bounce. Rahul sir and Rohit bhai kept giving me the confidence and told me to convert this into a big innings, and stay till the end.” said Yashasvi Jaiswal after Day 1 in Vizag
