Finally, the list of retained players is released by the franchise on 30th November. There are few surprises about few players in their respective franchises.
Bangalore retained three players, Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel miss
The Bangalore-based franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore has retained three players for the upcoming season. The three players are Virat Kohli (15 cr ) Glenn Maxwell (11 cr) and Mohammed Siraj (7 cr). Bangalore hasn’t retained the fourth player, they had the likes of the leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, MVP of last season Harshal Patel and the local opener Devdutt Padikkal.

According to reports, Yuzvendra Chahal could not agree to be the 4th retention deal RCB was offering him. According to Times of India reporter K Shriniwas Rao reported on Twitter: “RCB: VK, Siraj, Maxwell (Yuzi and RCB couldn’t sort out financials).”
KKR: Narine, Iyer, Chakravarthy, Russell (surprise – I’m hearing they won’t hold back Shubhman)

The fourth retained player used to get 6 cr by the franchise but Yuzi doesn’t want to be the fourth retention and RCB management was not able to give him his preferred retention number. Therefore Yuzi and RCB couldn’t sort out financials.
K Shriniwas Rao has also revealed the reason why Mumbai didn’t go with Hardik.
Mumbai Indians retained Rohit Sharma (16cr), Jasprit Bumrah (12 cr), Suryakumar Yadav (8cr ), and Kieron Pollard (6cr). Mumbai didn’t retain Hardik because
they were contemplating Hardik but his bowling is an issue.
Will Yuzvendra and Harshal get into the auction pool for the new teams will get them?
Now as RCB has retained only three players, those players who are not retained will go under the hammer in the mega auction, or the two new teams could also pick them as the two teams Ahmedabad and Lucknow have a choice of selecting a maximum of 3 players (2 Indian + 1 foreign) from the list of the non-retained players. The deadline for selecting these players is December 25th.
