No Kuldeep, Chahal in Matthew Hayden’s Preferred India Squad for World Cup 2023
Meanwhile, veteran Australian batter Matthew Hayden has disclosed his preferred India squad for the WC 2023. During an interaction with Star Sports, Hayden unveiled the 15-member lineup of hosts India with no Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvnedra Chahal. Surprisingly, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan made it into Hayden’s list as a backup wicketkeeper.
“There are some big omissions. Yuzvendra Chahal in particular, that leg-spinner is such a superb player and it must be tough for the selectors because they have also got another one in Kuldeep Yadav.” Hayden had earlier said while reacting to Chahal’s exclusion from India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad
“We have seen the class of Tilak Varma. I think it is a good strategy in terms of not just this World Cup but even potentially getting into the next World Cup (T20 World Cup 2024) as well,” Hayden further added
Matthew Hayden’s Preferred India Squad for World Cup 2023:
Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj
