India is all prepared to host World Cup after over a decade, in the October-November window later this year. The last time India hosted a 50-over World Cup was back in 2011, and the home side achieved a historic title win in the exact ICC event. Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will fancy their chances of bagging the prestigious trophy this time, however, the 10-team elite tournament is bound to be super competitive.
Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) disclosed the schedule for World Cup 2023 earlier today, following a marathon wait. With a tournament opener between England and New Zealand, this year’s World Cup will officially commence on October 5. It will be a 46-day affair with the all-important final scheduled on the 10th of November in Ahmedabad. As many as 10 venues will conduct the World Cup 2023 fixtures.
Ahmedabad remains the host of the India-Pakistan affair
The encounter between India and Pakistan – which is often considered one of the major spectacles of any ICC event – is set to occur on October 15. The iconic Narendra Modi Stadium of Ahmedabad will host the fixture between the arch-rivals in the World Cup 2023. Rohit Sharma’s India and Babar Azam’s Pakistan will play two matches each in the tournament before meeting in Ahmedabad for the electrifying contest.
Take a look at the World Cup 2023 schedule:
India got the better of Pakistan in a comprehensive way when the two teams met in the last World Cup (2019). Following a clinical all-around performance, India had handed over a gigantic 89-run defeat to Pakistan. However, both teams appear formidable on paper this time, and predicting a favorite is notably challenging. All in all, the fixture will likely end up as a thriller.
