Venkatesh Prasad slams Jos Buttler for not taking a stand:
The Australian wicket-keeper Matthew Wade is facing a lot of scrutiny from social media users after he deliberately pushed English bowler Mark Wood while he was setting in for an ariel catch. It was a ‘caught and bowled’ opportunity for the premier English pacer, which was virtually dismissed by Wade’s unfair action.
The incident happened during the series opener yesterday (Sunday). Wade did not face any consequences as the England skipper Jos Buttler showed disinterest in taking things upstairs. The Australian could have been dismissed if the English side had appealed for a rare mode of dismissal namely ‘Obstructing of field’.
“I wasn’t sure what happened. They asked if I wanted to appeal, and I thought, ‘We’re here for a long time in Australia. It would be a risky one to go for so early in the trip,” said Jos Buttler after the game.
Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer, The former Indian fast bowler has now tweeted regarding the same. Prasad had some harsh words for Matthew Wade’s unfair act. He also went on to slam England skipper Jos Buttler for not raising his voice against ‘Cheating’.
“Pathetic, in one word this is Cheating, not in the spirit of the game, and Obstructing the field, and what a terrible excuse from Jos Buttler to not appeal. The sense of entitlement of these guys is unbelievable. Bullshitting about the spirit of the game when there is no spirit.” wrote Venkatesh Prasad in his latest tweet.
