IND vs AUS: The penultimate encounter of the three-match one-day International series between India and Australia is currently occurring (Sunday) in Vizag city. It is a crucial affair between International heavyweights as it could well decide the winner of the series. Hosts India is leading the high-octane series with a margin of 1-0 following a dominating triumph in the series opener in Mumbai. It will be a must-win encounter for Australia in order to stay in contention to win the series.
“The pitch has been under the covers for a long time, we got to bat well and see where we are. Every game you play for India is a pressure game, so you got to stay calm and make the right decision. We have tried to remain calm in the last few ODI series we have played.” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma at the toss
Winning the toss, bowling first — it has been a dream start for visitors Australia with the ball in the second ODI fixture. Australia has managed to register as many as three dismissals already in the first six overs of the play. Having lost the wickets of Sharma, Gill, and Yadav, India’s scorecard currently displays 34/3. Premier Australia pacer Mitchell Starc is the bowler with all three wickets.
Soft dismissal for young Shubman Gill
Meanwhile, Shubamn Gill was the first batter to lose his wicket in India’s top-order collapse. Gill handed over an easy catch to the point fielder while attempting a full-fledged cover drive against Mitchell Starc’s out-swinging delivery. It was a smart choice of delivery by Starc as Gill and the trap ultimately resulted in a crucial dismissal for Australia.
It has been a substandard outing for emerging Indian opener Shubman Gill so far in the ongoing ODI series against Australia. Gill was dismissed on the score of 20 in the series opener and suffered a two-ball duck in the ongoing fixture. The opening batter recently scored a record-breaking ODI double-century against New Zealand, however, he will have to come up with multiple notable performances in order to retain his place in the Indian lineup.
