PSL 2023: The all-important playoffs leg of the proceeding Pakistan Super League season is in full swing. PSL 2023 kicked off on February 13 with a Multan-Lahore clash while the mega finale is scheduled on March 18. The league phase of the Pakistan-based T20 competition consisted of as many as 30 fixtures with 6 star-studded teams competing.
Lahore Qalandars, Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi were the teams that qualified for the proceeding playoffs. Moreover, Mohammad Rizwan-led Multan has already made it into the finals and the team is waiting for its opponent. The tournament has been action-packed, and full of runs, and a fitting conclusion to the competition is highly expected.
“Wins and losses are part of this game, I feel I made the right decision at the toss. Our body language wasn’t good in the first 10-13 overs and that cost us the game today. We qualified for the playoffs. We didn’t play the perfect game as a team. We could have finished in the top two but we didn’t play smart cricket.” said Shadab Khan in the post-match presentation
Shadab Khan predicts Babar Azam’s Wicket
Meanwhile, Shadab Khan was in the limelight on social media following his prediction of Babar Azam’s dismissal. The Islamabad skipper was caught saying ‘Babar out hain is over mein’, stating that the Peshawar opener will get out in his over. Surprisingly, Shadab trapped Babar in front of the stumps in the exact over and the latter had to walk back in a frustrating way in the 1st innings of the Peshawar-Islamabad clash.
Live fixing caught in psl lol 😂
Thats why (zimbabar) @babarazam258 said #PSL is better than #IPL because its easy to fix in psl #shadabkhan @ICC @cricketaakash pic.twitter.com/sDZ2Mem0kf— CRYpTo_DOCTOR 😋 (@VishalT21906393) March 17, 2023
Moreover, it remained a disappointing outing for Shadab Khan in totality as Islamabad United lost the match. It was the eliminator, so the Islamabad-based side was ultimately eliminated from the competition. Islamabad failed to chase down a gigantic 184 in the batting favorable conditions of Gaddafi Stadium. Peshawar all-rounder Aamer Jamal was named the player of the match due to a two-wicket spell.
