The all-format Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was rested from the recently concluded five-match home T20I series against South Africa. The decision was taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, due to the workload-managed policy, considering team India’s tight schedule in the upcoming months.
The right-arm Indian opener is set to make a return, along with other senior players in the one-off test against England. He is part of the ongoing four-day warm-up match against Leicestershire county. He looked in good touch before falling prey to a short ball from Roman Walker.
The Mumbaikar will lead the Indian team in the one-off test match against England which starts on July 1, at the Edgbaston cricket ground. The highly-anticipated encounter will mark his maiden test as India’s skipper in the overseas conditions.
Journalist body shames Rohit Sharma:
Meanwhile, an Indian journalist named Samip Rajguru was slammed by the netizens for using inappropriate and hateful language against the Indian captain Rohit Shara on national television. The incident took place while the journalist was doing a chat for the famous news channel named India TV.
Rajguru crossed the line after he body-shamed the Mumbaikar and called him a ‘fugitive’ in the local language. He confessed that Sharma was running away from facing the likes of Kagiso Rabada and that is why not featuring in the South Africa series.
The journalist indeed crossed the line by using curse words for someone like Rohit Sharma who has achieved significant milestones for the national team. He faced some serious heat from the cricket fans. The netizens requested the Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI to take serious action against the India TV journalist.
Here’s a part of what Samip Rajguru said:
“Where are you, Rohit Sharma? He’s enjoying vacations. Call him and ask him to play. Is he a cricketer or what? Bhagoda hi hai, khelna nahi chah raha hai (He is a fugitive who doesn’t want to play). He has become like (Navjot Singh) Siddhu, doesn’t want to face the bowlers”

Not just Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli was also rested. The only goal is to win the World Cup, if taking a break helps them then that’s more important than playing a bilateral at home @samiprajguru pic.twitter.com/bwF3f7Rvyy
