The off-spin all-rounder Washington Sundar will not feature in the upcoming T20I series against West Indies starting from February 16 due to Injury.
It has been reported that the 22-year-old has suffered a grade 1 hamstring injury. Sundar has left the Indian camp and will report to National Cricket Academy on Tuesday.
It is expected that Sundar’s injury is likely to need around three weeks time to completely recover. The all-rounder is set to spend 3 to 4 weeks at the National cricket academy placed in Bangalore.
The 22-year-old has missed a large amount of cricket due to injuries throughout the year. Washington Sundar has been part of the Indian setup because of his all-around ability. The 22-year-old is a 3-dimensional player and has the ability to bowl in any phase of the match. Sundar was consistently bowling in crucial power-play overs.
The Chennai-based all-rounder was all set to feature in ICC T20 World Cup 2021, UAE. Sundar was ruled out of T20 World Cup 2021 due to injury. He also had to miss out few matches due to Covid.
The Chennai boy was part of India’s historic win in Gabba, Brisbane. He played a crucial role with his batting and bowling in the Gabba Test. The all-rounder is still known for the hook he played against Pat Cummins in the last hour of day 5.
Washington Sundar will be desperately hoping to feature in the upcoming season of IPL. He was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the recently concluded mega auction which took place in Bangalore.
BCCI is unlikely to announce any replacement for Chennai-based all-rounder
Opening batsman KL Rahul and left-arm spinner Axar Patel were also ruled out of the T20 series against West Indies due to injuries. Deepak Hooda and Ruturaj Gaikwad were named as their replacements.

The three T-20 Internationals against West Indies will start in Kolkata on February 16. The matches will take place in the presence of a crowd (Except the 1st T20I).
