Following a defeat in the recently-concluded World Test Championship 2023 Final, there has been a shortage of action in Indian cricket. The senior Indian players are currently enjoying a full-fledged 4-week break. Pat Cummins-led Australia handed over a massive 209-run defeat to India in the WTC final earlier this month, at The Oval Cricket Ground. Indian team appeared dejected after the loss as their decade-long wait for an ICC title continued.
BCCI recently announced the schedule for the much-anticipated India tour of the West Indies. The exciting tour will formally commence on July 12 with a two-match Test series, which will be followed by a five-match T20I series. India’s squad for the exact tour is likely to be announced by June end. It will be the first International cricket assignment for Rohit Sharma and Co. after the recent WTC final defeat.
A 17-year-old strangles his opponent in a Kanpur Cricket match
Meanwhile, what emerges as a heart-wrenching development from Kanpur is that a 17-year-old boy assassinated a 14-year-old during a cricket match. The depressing episode occurred after the two young individuals got involved in a verbal exchange following the dismissal of the accused. Reports suggest that the accused strangled the 14-year-old with the help of his brother following a long heated confrontation.
“An FIR has been lodged under relevant IPC sections in this case. Raids are underway to detain the accused and his brother involved in the crime,” said ACP Dinesh Shukla from Ghatampur district
The family of the victim was quick to reach a local hospital, however, the doctors shortly confirmed the unfortunate death. Allegedly, the other players were the ones who reported the incident to the victim’s family. Both the accused and his brother are currently on the run and police officials are constantly in search of the two. Rahti Dera Village of Kanpur’s Ghatampur district was the exact site of the crime, which took place on June 20.
