Punjab Kings finally came out as a winner in a high-pressure game. Punjab, who have a tendency to make every match interesting by taking the match in the last over. In this match, Venkatesh Iyer almost takes an impossible catch at the Boundary line.
Kolkata was put in to bat first by Punjab. Kolkata lost Shubman early but Iyer and Rahu made sure that they doesn’t lose successive wickets. Iyer once again showed his class batting by leading from the front. He scored 67 runs off 49 balls which played a crucial part in KKR’s total of 165. His innings included 9 fours and 1 six.

Venkatesh Iyer almost pulled off an incredible catch in the 17th overs bowled by Shivam Mavi. Shahrukh pulled a ball flat to the deep backward leg. The ball found Iyer on its way who took the catch and then tried to keep the ball in play but fell on the ropes trying to take the catch on the second attempt. Here is the video :
Not only with bat or infield, but he was also the fifth bowler of the KKR Bowling unit and was given the responsibility to bowl the ultimate over in which he had to defend 5 runs. He almost pulled the match for KKR as he took the wicket of set batter Kl Rahul and also created a chance to caught Shahrukh but unfortunately, Rahul Tripathi dropped Shahrukh’s running catch at deep mid-wicket and Kolkata ended up at a losing end.
With this loss, Kolkata and Punjab both have a similar situation where they had played 12 matches, won 5 out of them, and are standing 4th and 5th respectively at the points table.
Kolkata comparatively has an easier opponent in form of Rajasthan and Hyderabad as they are in the bottom half of the points table whereas Punjab needs to play Bangalore and then Chennai.
