Today’s Cricket Match Update: Ben Stokes Surrenders To Mohammed Shami
Ben Stokes, the veteran England batter, had a horrible day on the field with the bat against India. Stokes suffered an embarrassing 10-ball duck while batting in a delicate situation in England’s run chase in Lucknow. The Southpaw was troubled by India speedster Mohammed Shami at large during his brief stay at the crease before and he threw his wicket away by playing a horrible shot.
In the 8th over of England’s innings, Mohammed Shami got the better of Ben Stokes on multiple occasions with an astute seam-bowling display. Shami eventually dismissed Stokes in the form of England’s 3rd wicket after delivering a picture-perfect inswinger. Stokes, quite literally, surrendered to the senior India pacer’s lethal bowling in hostile Lucknow conditions.

Here’s what Chris Woakes told the broadcasters after the first innings in Lucknow;
“Picking up wickets is always nice, we put them under pressure early on. I missed my lengths earlier in the tournament, which was a bit frustrating, but I hit the right areas today. The fielders backed up the bowlers and that set the tone for us. Hopefully, the conditions get better under the lights. It’s a good Indian side, hopefully, we bat well and chase it down.”
