In the ongoing Big Bash League, Tim David made a serious blunder while running between the wickets.
In the match between Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Stars, Matthew Wade won the toss and elected to bat first.
Hurricanes openers, Wade and McDermott went all guns blazing as the deadly duo added 93 runs for the first wicket partnership in just 9.3 overs. Wade scored 39 runs whereas McDermott scored 67 runs off 43 balls including 4 fours and 4 sixes.
The middle-order batters played run-a-ball and then the finish by Tim David by quickfire 22 runs took Hurricanes to post 180 runs on the scoreboard. For Stars, Russell scalped three wickets but was very expensive as he went for 12 RPO.
Melbourne Stars’ struggle with batting continues as the batting unit fails to achieve the target and lost the game by 24 runs. Many batters like Stoinis, Burns, Maxwell, and Russell got a start but didn’t look dangerous at any point in the game.
Clarke was the top scorer by scoring 52 runs off 40 balls. And for the Hurricanes the pacer trio bowled brilliant as Rogers, Meredith and Ellis scalped three, three, and two wickets respectively.
Tim David deliberately took a short run in the ultimate over
Tim David scored 22 runs in 12 balls including a four and a six. But on the 5th ball of the ultimate over, Tim David was seen deliberately taking a short run. Because of which the Hobart Hurricanes team got a penalty of 5 runs. Therefore, Melbourne Stars started their batting innings with 5 runs already on the scoreboard.

The commentary of the incident
But the umpires are having a discussion and what do we see on the replay – Tim David is a long way shortly after the first run. That’s why the umpires are having a chat. They hand a penalty of 5 runs for the Hurricanes for a deliberate short run. Also, the two taken have been canceled. Good umpiring as they spotted David trying to get back on strike and not in a fair way
With this win, Hobart has 10 points from 5 matches and has moved to 3rd position. Whereas Melbourne Stars has 7 points from 5 matches and are at 7th Position in the Points Table
