Team India’s preparations for the approaching Asia Cup 2023 formally commenced yesterday (August 24) in Alur town of Bangalore. All the 17 members from India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad are assigned to undergo a 6-day preparatory fitness camp ahead of the marquee Asian competition, which will get underway on August 30 with a Pakistan-Nepal clash.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issuing a verbal warning to Indian players emerges as a shocking development from Bangalore. According to the latest Indian Express reports, the BCCI has asked Indian players to avoid sharing confidential behind-the-scenes information on social media following Virat Kohli’s latest Yo-Yo test story.

On Thursday, Virat Kohli shared a selfie from the Bangalore ground after clearing the Yo-Yo test to confirm his Yo-Yo test score of 17.2, via Instagram Stories. The exact incident left the BCCI office-bearers fuming as the fitness results and scores of the players from the national side are not supposed to be kept a secret. The story, however, is still live on Kohli’s profile and he hasn’t deleted it yet.

“Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause,” a senior BCCI official told Indian Express

What is the Yo-Yo Test:

The Yo-Yo Test, formally known as The Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test, was introduced in the Indian team in 2017 under the leadership of the Virat Kohli-Ravi Shastri combo. The highly debated fitness test demands players to run for 20 meters between two cones with a few seconds of rest after each round. The test gets harder and harder with the progression and is bound to test the endurance of athletes astutely.
