T20 World Cup 2022: After two consecutive triumphs, The star-studded Indian team finally met their first defeat in the proceeding edition of the T20 World Cup. India suffered an embarrassing defeat in their third encounter of the tournament against Temba Bavuma-led South Africa on Sunday. The defeat has raised several questions on India’s batting lineup and standards of fielding as well.
Rohit Sharma and co. will now head to the famous city of Adelaide for their approaching assignment. India will be appearing in a contest against Shakib Al Hasan’s Bangladesh on Wednesday (November 2). India unquestionably enters the Asian derby as runaway favorites, however, the pressure will be sky-high as it is a must-win match for both teams.
“That was a match-winning partnership from Markram and Miller. We were a little poor in the field, we gave so many chances and we weren’t clinical. We were just not good enough. We need to keep our heads high and take learning from this game.” said Rohit Sharma following a disappointing day at the office.
India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik in doubt for the match against Bangladesh:
What comes as a significant development from the Indian camp is that senior wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik is reported to be doubtful for the Bangladesh encounter. Karthik communicated some discomfort in the lower back during the game against South Africa and left the field midway through the match.
The 36-year-old wicketkeeper has been a crucial member of the team in the last few months. He was been part of India’s starting eleven in all three completed games so far in the T20 World Cup 2022. Rishabh Pant, who is an emerging wicketkeeper-batsman is likely to replace Karthik if he remains unavailable for the all-important match.
“He had some issues with his back. I did not meet him after the match. We will get to know what’s happening once we go back to the hotel, whatever the physio gives the report,” said Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the post-match press conference.
