Shreyas Iyer may add to the permanent squad for T20 World Cup

Shreyas Iyer is a reserve player for T20 World Cup that is going to be held in October next month. India has announced its 15 man World Cup squad. Shreyas Iyer Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar are the reserve player. 3 Mumbai Indians batsmen are in doubt after their dull performance in the second leg of IPL 2021.

The name includes Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan. These are the men that are struggling with their form. Indian team can make changes in the squad till October 15. Indian fans are curious about the changes that may occur in the Indian squad.

Statement from BCCI sources

According to BCCI, there may be changes in the Indian squad. Hardik Pandya didn’t bowl a single over in the second leg of IPL. This is a big issue.

“Yes, it is a bit of a concern but we still have few matches left in IPL to get them back in form. Hopefully, they will. Suryakumar has been amongst runs for India so he is not a big concern at the moment. Ishan Kishan too did well in Sri Lanka. Virat also spoke to him on Sunday and let’s see how it goes,” a BCCI source told.

The source admitted that Iyer is being looked at as a backup in a case where the form of Hardik, Suryakumar, and Ishan doesn’t improve to the expected level. “We have Shreyas Iyer as the backup, if there are any concerns, he could be added. But it’s too early to say anything. Ishan Kishan is an important player and so are Suryakumar and others. There is no point speculating,” the source revealed.
