Then MS Dhoni made a wild and unexpected decision by promoting Shivam Dube at no.3 ahead of Ambati Rayudu, Robin Uthappa, and Moeen Ali. The commentators started criticizing the decision, as they thought CSK might not be able to maximize the solid start given by their openers.
But Shivam Dube proved everyone wrong as he played a super cameo, scoring 32 runs off 19 balls, with two massive sixes and some fours to carry on the momentum.

In the first inning, Chennai Super Kings managed to set a mammoth target of 209 for Delhi Capitals. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Shivam Dube, and MS Dhoni contributed with the bat to put on a big score on the board.
The standout performer for CSK was Devon Conway as he scored 87 runs in just 49 balls. He scored three consecutive fifties after his comeback to the team. He was dropped from the team in the initial stage of the Indian Premier LeagueLeague because of his poor form.
For Delhi Capitals, Khaleel Ahmed was the standout performer as he managed to grab 2 wickets and conceded only 28 runs while every other bowler was leaking runs. In the end, Anrich Nortje also manage to grab 3 wickets but he went expensive as he conceded 42 runs in his 4 overs.
