Pakistan Bowling Coach Shaun Tait is highly impressed with Shaheen Shah Afridi. And said that He is ‘teaching’ me a lot, too. Currently, Australia and Pakistan are engaged in the third and the final Test of the Benaud-Qadir at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Just before the series against Australia, the former pacer was appointed as Pakistan’s bowling coach last month. Shaun Tait is satisfied with the bowlers’ performance in the ongoing Test between Pakistan and Australia. Before the play on Day-2, Shaun talked about the plan of the day, about Shaheen, and also about young Naseem Shah.
Shaun Tait said-
“As a bowling group, we picked up five wickets and kept the economy rate in control in good batting conditions, which is pretty good,”
“First 45 minutes are crucial. If the fast bowlers put all their effort and get few wickets in the first hour, that will favor us for the days to come in this Test match.”
Shaun Tait on Shaheen Shah Afridi
“Shaheen is a great bowler and asks a lot of questions. So far, I have enjoyed my time with him, and I actually learned a lot from him. Afridi is very mature and skillful for his age. He showed that yesterday by getting both conventional and reverse swing. He got some crucial wickets at the end of the day, and hopefully, he gets more wickets in the morning session today,” he added.
Shaun Tait on Naseem Shah’s bowling on the 1st day of the 3rd Test.
“Naseem is very mature and skillful for his age. He showed that yesterday by getting both conventional and reverse swing. He got some crucial wickets at the end of the day. And hopefully, he gets more wickets in the morning session today.” Tait stated. Both Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi picked four wickets each in the first innings of the third test.
After the end of play on Day-2, Pakistan has scored 90/1 in response to Australia’s 391 in the first innings. For Australia Khawaja, Smith, Green, and Carey scored the fifties for them.
