India’s stand-in skipper KL Rahul was seen getting involved in a heated verbal exchange with the South African team after his dismissal.
The inform batter in the South Africa tour. Rahul could add just 8 runs in the 2nd innings of the 2nd Test at Johannesburg. He got out to Marco Jansen in the seventh over of the second innings on Day 2.
This incident happened on the 5th ball of the seventh over. Where Rahul edged the delivery and was caught in the slip by Markram.
In the flow, it looked like a clear catch but Rahul wasn’t convinced. So the on-field umpires went upstairs with the sift signal out.
In the replay, it looked like the ball has kissed the ground before going into the hands of Markram at the second slip. But the third umpire decided that there was no conclusive evidence to overturn the on-field decision hence Rahul was given out.
While walking back to the pavilion some verbal exchange happened between Rahul and the South African.
The commentary
There comes the in-nip, there comes the poke, and there comes the nick. This is one proper setup with a bunch of stuff angling across that Rahul kept playing inside the line to on purpose. This time he couldn’t .. it jags in big time, takes the bat’s shoulder, and second slip dives in front to collect. Okay, Rahul isn’t doing a Rassie. He isn’t walking. And so the umpires check, without being the soft signal. As much as the 2-D cameras show the same old inconclusive stuff and give an impression of the ball dipping just in front of Markram’s palms with the front-on angle, the third umpire is convinced the fingers are under the ball. Rahul will have to walk, and he does shaking his head vigorously.

Time for Rahane and Pujara to step up

At the end of play on Day 2, Team India is 85 for 2 down losing both the openers. Rahul scored just 8 runs while Mayank misread the line and was out on well set 23 runs.
India is leading by 58 runs and the two most experienced players are batting in the middle. It’s high time that both Pujara and Rahane play with intensity and discipline. Both of them have a lot of experience while batting in this tough situation and Team India will hope better for them ok Day-3.
