The test match series between India and Sri Lanka have already commenced from 4th March. The first test match was held in Mohali, Punjab in which India convincingly beat Sri Lanka with the help of Ravindra Jadeja’s masterclass with both bat and ball.
In the first match, there weren’t many positives for Sri Lanka apart from Pathum Nissanka and Niroshan Dickwella’s innings.
India had taken the 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series and was going up against Sri Lanka in the second Test match which is a Day-Night Test match at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru starting from 12th MarchMarch, Saturday.
In the second Test match, Indian Captain Rohit Sharma once again won the toss and elected to bat first. The pitch was very favorable for spinners as both Sri Lankan spinner Lasith Embuldeniya, P.Jayawickrama, and part-timer Dhananjay De Silva grabbed 8 wickets in the first innings.
Shreyas Iyer hit 92 in quick time as he played very aggressively and counter-attacked Sri Lankan spinners. Shreyas Iyer’s innings pushed India’s total beyond 250. Rishabh Pant’ 39 Hanuma Vihari’s 31 and Virat Kohli’s 23 also contributed.
In response Indian bowlers bundled out Sri Lankan batters for only 109 runs, Jasprit Bumrah grabbed his 8th fifer in Test cricket and his 1st in the subcontinent. Shami and Ashwin took two wickets each and Axar Patel grabbed one wicket.
In the second inning of India both the openers Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal provided a great start but later, Sri Lankan spinners Lasith Embuldeniya and Jayawickrama managed to build some pressure on Indian batters.
Fans on social media went crazy as Indian captain Rohit Sharma played a reverse-sweep shot against Embuldeniya. Rohit Sharma’s innings of 46(79) have been the highlight of this innings till now.
