In the ongoing second ODI match between India and South Africa at Paarl. KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bat first. The match is played on the same strip which was used in the first game.
Comedy of errors from KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant as they both ended up on the same end
This incident happened on the sixth ball of the 15th over which was bowled by Maharaj where Rishabh Pant tapped the ball towards the left of the mid-wicket and after coming forward a couple of steps Pant decided to deny him the run despite him being halfway down the wicket.
And unfortunately, Rahul and Pant ended up on the striker’s end and there was no scope of Rahul returning in time. But Maharaj was not able to grab the ball and the ball ran to the other side which gave Rahul the time to make his way back at the non-striker end. After that, Rahul had a stare and few words with Rishabh Pant as it was Pant’s Fault.

Maharaj to Pant, no run, what has happened there? and Rahul is livid after escaping the run-out! Has a stare and words with Pant. Tucked to the left of mid-wicket and Rahul was halfway down when the fielder slid to his left, which forced Pant to abort the thought of a single, went back and Rahul reached Pant’s end too.
The throw came on the half-volley to Maharaj who failed to collect and the backup fielder was near deep mid-wicket, by the time he could field and return the ball, Rahul was back. What a let-off for Rahul. Great fielding by Bavuma – not-so-great by Maharaj and Phehlukwayo backing up who fumbled
Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul added 115 runs for the third wicket partnership
Team India had a great start as KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan added 57 runs in the first powerplay. After the first powerplay, South Africa pulled back the things nicely as the spinners got the two big wickets in a spare of 7 balls.
First, Shikhar Dhawan got out to Aiden Markram while playing sweep, and then in the next over Virat Kohli got out for a duck. And suddenly the pressure was on Team India.
And then, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul added 115 runs partnership in which Rishabh played the aggressive role and Rahul played the anchor role. Rishabh scored 85 runs in 71 balls (10 fours and 2 sixes) whereas Rahul scored 55 runs in 79 balls (4 fours).
