The Shikhar Dhawan-led second-string Indian team achieved a significant series win against the West Indies. The team displayed dominant performance in all three departments which helped them to register a comprehensive series victory. The hosts suffered a whitewash in a home ODI series against India for the first time.
Shubman Gill, The right-hand opener was given an opportunity to open alongside captain Shikhar Dhawan in the absence of Rohit Sharma. He was preferred over the likes of Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who were also part of the squad. Gill indeed proved the backing of the management right.
The 22-year-old managed to contribute heavily in all three matches of the series. He scored 64 and 43 in the initial two games of the series respectively. While he played a crucial knock of 98 in the last encounter while remaining unbeaten. The right-hander proved his metal on the international stage once again.

The incident took place during the third ODI. The franchise was trolled by Twitter users as the tweet was published when Gill was in his 90s and had not completed his ton.

To conclude, Shubman Gill did not manage to get his century and remained unbeaten on the score of 98 as India’s innings were halted due to rain and the overs were reduced. The development did not allow the team to bat again. The 50-over encounter was converted into a 36-over game due to the time lost.
