It is very difficult to break Virat Kohli’s record: Ravi Shastri
Meanwhile, former Indian Cricketer Ravi Shastri has backed Gujarat Titans’ Shubman Gill as the batter who can possibly achieve Virat Kohli’s 973-run IPL record. Shastri believes that Gill opens the batting for Gujarat Titals, which gives him the maximum opportunity to achieve touch the 973-run mark. He further added that the ideal batting conditions in Ahmedabad, too, might help Gill break the astounding record.
“I feel it is Shubman Gill because he is in good form and also because he plays at the top of the order. He has to be an opening batsman, because only then will he get many opportunities to score runs. So he will get a good number of opportunities to score runs” said Ravi Shastri
The veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli holds the record for scoring the most runs (973) in a single Indian Premier League season. Kohli registered the record in the 2016 edition of the IPL and the gigantic record is yet to be broken. The Delhi-born Cricketer slammed as many as four centuries in the exact IPL season, additionally comprising multiple half-centuries as well.
“The pitches are good (in Ahmedabad), so if he (Shubman Gill) can score 80-100 runs consecutively in two or three innings, then at that point only he will already have 300-400 runs. But it is very difficult to break the record because 900-plus runs are huge.” Shastri further added via Star Sports
