South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has been on a roll. The 31-year-old is making the most out of every single match ever since he hit the purple patch. In the recently concluded T20I against Ireland, the left-arm put on yet another display via his magical spin; giving away just 27 runs and taking 4 huge wickets in the process. He absolutely destroyed the Irish top-order and made sure that South Africa didn’t face further humiliation after losing to Ireland in the ODI series.
Racist remarks and Shamsi’s reply:
After winning the man of the match award for the aforementioned 4 wicket-haul against Ireland, Shamsi took to Twitter to dedicate the match-winning spell to his son.

While every single person was impressed with Shamsi’s gesture, a salty fan chose to be emotionless and targeted him. He mocked Shamsi for his skin color and cited it as the sole reason for his continued selection in international cricket. The fan also claimed that veteran offie Simon Harmer is a better spinner and should play ahead of Tabraiz. The racist user was so senseless that while doing so, he also dragged Tabraiz’s son into it:

But being the classy man that he is, Shamsi chose to reply with a mouth-shutting reply. Check it out below:

Does the tweet make any sense?
At present? Zero. Shamsi has been prolific in the past year or so, bagging one man of the match after the other. There’s a reason why he was chosen as the man of the series against West Indies. In 4 out of 5 t20is, Shamsi gave less than 5 runs per over and took 8 wickets in total, most of which were well set top-order batters.
Tabraiz Shamsi currently sits pretty at the top of the T20I ranking for bowlers. His 810 rating points are almost 100 clear of Rashid Khan, who’s famously dubbed as the greatest t20 bowler of all time. He has been a gun ever since the previous season of the Mzansi Super League and there’s no doubt about it. These are facts that totally quash the claim made by the fan. Had he tweeted the same a few years ago, the skin color stuff might’ve made some sense but as of now, the tweet is nothing but a bad joke.
While Simon is an insanely talented spinner with 685 FC wickets, Tabraiz Shamsi 2.0 is unarguably the best spinner going around in the shortest format of the game. The claim that the tweet makes has no truth to it. Over the years, Shamsi has worked a day in and day out to develop into the spin-wizard that he has now become. It takes a ton of dedication, perseverance, and hard work to execute such a remarkable turnaround, and Simon Harper’s tweet in Shamsi’s support proves the same.
