It is a very rare occurrence when a batsman gets LBW but he can’t review the umpire’s decision because of the unavailability of technology. One such rare scene panned out during the game between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) as Devon Conway was unable to take a DRS due to a power cut in the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
IPL 2022 has been a disappointing season for Mumbai Indians so far as they managed to win only two matches in the tournament out of eleven and are already out of the playoffs race of IPL 2022.
The story is the same on the other hand as Chennai Super Kings also managed to win only four matches out of eleven and can only reach up to 14 points if they manage to win all the remaining matches. Also, they are heavily dependent on other teams to qualify for the playoffs.
In the 59th match of Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are clashing with each other, the rivalry between the two teams is known as el Clasico of the IPL.
MI grabbed opponents CSK to 5/3 bowling first and Daniel Sams picked two wickets in the very first over. Devon Conway has been in a good form since the last couple of matches but was dismissed LBW by Sam in a controversial manner.
Power cut at Wankhede :
Earlier In the match Captain of Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. It was a dream start for Mumbai Indians as Daniel Sams started the proceedings with the ball for MI.
Sams bowled a delivery shaping back into Conway on the second ball of the match. The ball hit the pads and it appeared to be sliding down the leg. Surprisingly, the umpire gave him out and Devon Conway got out on a duck.
A DRS would have saved Devon Conway but the technology was not available due to a power cut in the Wankhede stadium. The batter then walked back to the pavilion without even getting an opportunity to ask for a review.
Unlucky for Devon Conway, the ball was missing leg stump. He couldn't take the DRS due to powercut in the stadium. pic.twitter.com/ccepvIVzYC
