Australia demolished England as they beat England 4-0 in the five-match Ashes Test Series. England’s struggle with the bat throughout the series led them down in this series.
After the victory, in the post-match ceremony Australian players were ready to pop the cork on their champagne bottle. But Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins stopped the players for a while and invited Usman Khawaja to come over and pose for a picture.
As Usman Khawaja is a Muslim, his faith forbids him from partaking in alcoholic beverages. Therefore Khawaja was standing away from the team but this small gesture of Pat Cummins inviting Khawaja and instructing his team players to celebrate with the champagne bottle later shows Cummins kindness. “This might be a small gesture but this is what makes Pat Cummins great. He realized Khawaja had to dip because of the booze and rectifies it,” said a tweet highlighting Cummins’ kind act.
