Mohammad Nabi-led Afghanistan squared off against Babar Azam-led Pakistan in a must-win encounter earlier today (September 7). The all-important Asia Cup contest turned out to be a nail-biting last-over thriller with Pakistan winning the game, having only one wicket left.
Winning the toss, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam forced team Afghanistan to bat first. The young batting-line up had a disappointing outing, getting bundled out on the score of 129. Ibrahim Zadran was the pick of the batters for Afghanistan as he played a crucial knock of 35 on a tough track. While Haris Rauf starred for Pakistan with two wickets.
Midway through the game, All the experts ruled out the chances of Afghanistan winning the do-or-die game. However, The young team managed to put up a stunning show with the ball while defending a low total. The bowling line-up displayed some serious skills and was dominant for most of the part in the game.
Naseem Shah, The premier Pakistan bowler eventually helped the Men In Green cross the line with two back-to-back maximums. The tight victory enabled the Pakistan team to become the second team to qualify for the final of the Asia Cup, which will be played against Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Experienced Pakistan batter Asif Ali and young Afghanistan bowler Fareed Ahmad got involved in a physical fight during the last over of the match. The incident happened when the Pakistani batter was dismissed at a crucial situation in the match.
Asif Ali was spotted intentionally pushing Fareed Ahmed while the pacer was trying to give him a big sendoff after dismissing him. The finisher also raised his bat on the Afghanistan youngster. Both the players were slammed by the cricket fans for showing unneeded aggression.
It will be interesting to see if the players involved in the brawl face a match ban. Both the players will certainly be penalized 100% of their match fees. The match referee will have a conversation with them as a part of the Standard Operating Procedure.
