NZ vs IND: The opening encounter of the ODI series between New Zealand and India occurred earlier today (Friday). The high-octane contest of the three-match series, which took place at the iconic Eden Park remained a one-sided affair, with hosts New Zealand managing to achieve a comprehensive victory. It was a clinical performance for the Blackcaps in the crucial fixture, especially in the batting departments.
“It’s a bit different than other grounds. Have to plan accordingly. Today we’ve bowled short of length and Latham attacked us there. That’s where he took the game away from us especially in the 40th over. That’s where the momentum shifted. Really enjoy playing here. Would’ve been happier if we won but that’s part and parcel.” said Indian captain Shikhar Dhawan during the post-match presentation
New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson and his deputy Tom Latham remained the pick of the batters for the home side. Latham scored a whopping 145 runs off just 104 deliveries unbeaten, while Williamson contributed with a mammoth knock worth 94 runs. The caravan now moves to the city of Hamilton ahead of the penultimate encounter of the series. The hosts will look to continue the momentum, while the visitors will be desperate to make a comeback.
Washington Sundar comes up with a 360 shot!
Washington Sundar’s innovative scoop shot during the first innings remained the shot of the match. The episode occurred in the last over of the innings when Sundar played an outrageous scoop against premier New Zealand pacer Matt Henry. The innovative shot by the all-rounder was crucial and certainly left everyone including the commentators, spectators and players surprised.
Washington Sundar was featured in a one-day international after a long time and it was indeed a fine comeback by him. He had an off day with the ball, going wicketless while defending the total. However, they played a quickfire cameo of 37 runs off 16 deliveries. The knock included as many as three maximums and three fours. Sundar would now want to perform consistently in order to cement his place in the starting eleven.
can you blame us for making the obvious '𝐀𝐭𝐢 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫' pun for this Washi batting video? 😅
