SA20: The inaugural edition of the newly-introduced South African T20 competition, namely, SA20 is occurring in full swing. The South Africa-based tournament formally kicked off in the last week on January 10, with a fixture between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals. A total of six franchises are participating in the league, featuring multiple renowned International players. The league has received a green flag from the Cricket fans and is certainly off to a great start.
Meanwhile, Wayne Parnell-led Pretoria Capitals squared off against Faf Du Plessis-led Joburg Super Kings yesterday (January 17) in the 11th match of the season. The contest between two heavyweights remained a thriller with Joburg Super Kings achieving a close victory. It was an all-round display of Cricket from Faf Du Plessis and co. which led to a 6-run victory, ultimately marking Super Kings’ second triumph in the competition.
“Just unforced errors really. Still feel they were 15 runs short. But we made a couple of silly errors. The pitch was slow early on but got better under the lights. We probably played good cricket for most of the match. Made errors at crucial stages.” said Pretoria Capitals’ skipper Wayne Parnell following an embarrassing defeat
Will Jacks makes headlines with a terrific catch at the boundary rope!
Meanwhile, Will Jacks’ incredible catch during the clash against Joburg Super Kings remained one of the highlights of the game. It was a one-handed grab by Jacks in the mid-wicket region, in response to Gerald Coetzee’s explosive lofted shot. The Englishman received a lot of praise on social media, while the local batsman Coetzee had to walk back to the dressing room without making any contributions to the team’s tally.
Moreover, It was pretty much a wavering day for Pretoria Capitals’ Will Jacks on the field. The 24-year-old bowled just one over in the game, getting hammered for a whopping 11 runs. Opening the batting for the team, Jacks got dismissed on the score of 16 to Alzarri Joseph’s terrific delivery. The emerging English all-rounder made his debut for the national side in Pakistan last month (December 2022). A notable performance from him is certainly on the cards.
