Moeen Ali decided to retire from test cricket

England’s ace all-rounder Moeen Ali is all set to retire from international test cricket. He is one of the most reliable names for the England team in all formats. The sudden news of his retirement came up with many questions? The first one is why? The answer is clear as Moeen did not get a full-time central contract. Moeen Ali will continue to play limited-overs cricket but in a longer format, he says goodbye to the English Board. Moeen Ali is purely a team’s man. As he batted in every position from opening to 9 down. He always gives his hundred percent to the team. But the cricket board of England doesn’t go far with him.

As they didn’t give him a full-time central contract since 2019. England’s former selector Ed Smith issued a statement, “the role of the first-choice spinner might not be best suited to him” and, along with this, he was not given a full central contract at the end of 2019, which saw a strange relationship of him with the team management. Moreover, when he was dropped, after the first Ashes Test of the 2019 series, he was the world’s top wicket-taker in the longer format over the preceding 12 months as well.

I think the player with a caliber like Moeen Ali should really be given some respect. He did everything for his team. When the team needs to run with higher rates he is there. When the team needs to pick crucial wickets he is there. He’s everywhere for the England team but the England team doesn’t hold him.

Moeen Ali holds some impressive test cricket stats. The 34-year-old Ali came from Birmingham England. Moeen Ali has the role of batting all-rounder in the England cricket team. He is a left-handed batsman and right-arm-off break bowler. In the span of 2014 to 2021 he played 64 test matches. In which in 111 innings he scored 2914 runs with an average of 28.29. He hits 14 half centuries and five centuries. Moeen ali has the highest score of 155 not out. He took 195 test wickets which made him an ace all-rounder in the world.

Moeen Ali was picked by RCB in the 2018 IPL auction. He was with RCB for three seasons. He contributes to RCB with both bat and ball. Then in the 2021 IPL auction, he’s bought by Chennai Super Kings for 4.5 crores. In 20 8IPL matches, he scored 570 runs with an average of 24. He plays with a strike rate of 152 which made him a destructive batsman.
