Faf Du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore are taking on Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans in their last game of the season. The much-anticipated match is a do-or-die game for RCB in order to make it to the playoffs in the ongoing IPL season.
Gujarat Titans went on to post a par total of 168 on the board after the toss went in their favor. Skipper Hardik Pandya starred with the bat for them with the bat after the wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha provided them with a good start. Rashid Khan finished things off in flying colors.
It was a brilliant effort by the Bangalore-based team except for the last over by Josh Hazelwood. GT missed the services of pacer Harshal Patel in the latter part of the innings as he suffered an injury during the same game. Wanindu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers for RCB. The Sri Lankan scalped 1 wicket while giving away just 25 runs in his 4-overs quota.
Overall, It was a good effort by both the teams considering the slowish nature of the strip. Both sides will fancy their chances to register a victory at the halfway stage. RCB has to win the all-crucial encounter to stay alive in the playoffs race. The Gujarat Titans have already qualified for the playoffs and will feature in Qualifier 1.
Matthew Wade suffers an unfortunate dismissal :
Matthew Wade, The Australian wicket-keeper is known to open the innings. He was demoted to no. 3 in the batting order of GT. Unfortunately, He suffered a poor umpiring call costing the wicket-keeper batsman his wicket. Wade was given out LBW.
Meanwhile, Wade went upstairs immediately after the umpire raised his finger. He was confident that he edged it before the ball crashed into the pads. Surprisingly, The umpire wasn’t able to find any conclusive evidence to overturn the on-field umpire’s decision.
The ultra edge suggested no edge. However, A clear deflection was seen in the replay. Wade looked absolutely livid and threw his helmet as soon as he entered the dressing room. He went on to smash his bat multiple times at the same place.
