The SRH batter Rahul Tripathi has impressed everyone with his sensational batting and has proved to be a key batter for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2022.
The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League has reached a very interesting stage as 7 teams are fighting to occupy the remaining three slots in the playoffs. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) kept themselves alive as they won their 13th match against five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI).
After their win, former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden backs 31-year-old batter Rahul Tripathi who is representing SRH this season of the Indian Premier League and has proved to be an asset for the franchise.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) didn’t start their campaign on a winning note but bounced back in style as they won 5 consecutive matches to earn 10 crucial points.
Unfortunately, they were unable to carry on the momentum and lost the next 5 matches which put a brake on their playoff hopes.
However, the team got back to winning ways in the 65th match of the Indian Premier League as they beat Mumbai Indians in a very close encounter.
Matthew Hayden Backs SRH Batter Rahul Tripathi To Make Debut For India
Matthew Hayden on Star Sports quoted: “I just love his ability to hit upfront so hard. That power play is so significant, so the first six overs, you have to make use of it. The way Tripathi took up the responsibility was good to watch. I think he has got some real potential in the future to go all the way at the international level.”
Aakash Chopra said: “And I am saying because SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) might not be available at all, why not Rahul Tripathi for the series against South Africa? You will give him an opportunity sometime or the other and if he is doing so well in T20s regularly, I think it is his right that you keep him.”
Ian Bishop tweeted: “Rahul Tripathi for International cricket, it’s the time!”
Rahul Tripathi scored 77 runs in just 44 balls in the match and he has been awarded Man Of The Match.
He has been the most successful SRH batsman this year with 393 runs in 13 innings with an average of 39.30. All the other batsmen have not looked in good touch, but Tripathi has been the silver lining for the franchise and that’s the reason why Matthew Hayden backs him for his Team India debut.
