Indian Premier League 2023: The latest credible media reports confirmed that the mini-auction ahead of the next edition of the Indian Premier League will formally occur on December 16. The venue for the much-anticipated event is yet to be decided but Bengaluru appears as the frontrunner for the same. Allegedly, The franchises have been officially told by the newly-appointed IPL governing council to submit the retention list by mid-November (November 16).
What emerged as an extensive development from the Chennai Super Kings’ camp is that the franchise is all set to back Ravindra Jadeja following a controversy in the last season. The sources confirmed that captain MS Dhoni demanded to back the marquee Indian all-rounder, having an eye on the future of the franchise. As things stand, Jadeja is unlikely to part ways with the Chennai-based franchise.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has formally filed a contempt plea against an IPS officer G Sampath Kumar in the Madras High Court. Dhoni was allegedly unimpressed following derogatory statements against him by Kumar against the supreme court related to the Indian Premier League match-fixing saga. The wicket-keeper allegedly sought compensation of INR 100 crore for the officer’s ‘match-fixing’ allegations against him.
In June 2021, The Madras High court restrained the IPS officer from mentioning the former Indian captain regarding the match-fixing case but Kumar made derogatory remarks against Dhoni in December 2021. The exact cause was listed in the Madras high court on Friday (November 4) however the proceedings were not completed. The case is now likely to be heard in court on approaching Tuesday.
