Jos Buttler’s comeback was always on the cards ever since England lost the first t20i and the medical team declared him match-fit. Being the uncanny leader that he is, Eoin decided to rest himself to make way for his England deputy. And boy, didn’t he respond well?
England’s counter-attack:
After being put in to bat first, England started off rather tamely; losing Malan and in-form Jason Roy with just 18 runs on the board. One would expect a slow rebuild but England had a better plan. Attack, attack, and attack. Moeen Ali walked in at 4 and plundered 19 runs off Haris’ first over. Captain Buttler(59 off 39) soon joined the monstrosity as the pair added 67 runs off the next five overs to completely change the complexion of the match.
Liam Livingstone smashes “The biggest six ever.” –
Liam is a freak. Make it official. After smoking his way to 103 off 43 in the previous game, the Lancashire captain decided to hog the limelight yet again. After scoring just a brace of his first 3 balls, Liam decided to go ballistic and took a special liking to medium-pacer Haris Rauf. He smashed multiple boundaries which included a huge… insanely huge six!
It was the 1st delivery of the 16th over when Rauf ran up to the bowling create and dished out a full ball to Livingstone. Livingstone first got under the ball and smacked it with all his might. Literally all. The ball went straight down through the ground, soaring sky-high before disappearing out of the stadium. The monstrous hit covered an outrageous Disha of 121.95 meters. Here’s a clip of the same;
He followed it up with another boundary off the next ball before being run-out at the score of 38, owing to a judgment error by partner Tom Curran.
Pakistan’s mediocrity:
Rizwan-Babar were at it again. The duo added half a ton for the first wicket. But both the set batters fell in quick succession and a procession of wickets followed. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid took two wickets each as Pakistan lost their top six for just 55 runs. Shadab’s unbeaten cameo of 36 was the only saving grace as Pakistan lost by 45 runs.
