Latest Cricket News: Sunil Narine Asked To Leave The Field Following A Slow-Over Red Card
The on-field umpire dashing Sunil Narine out of the ground for the final over remained a controversial episode from yesterday’s fixture between St Kitts and Trinbago. The umpire handed a red card to Trinbago Knight Riders ahead of the final over of the first innings after they were falling behind in the over rate by a mere few seconds.
Owing to the new CPL red-card rule, Trinbago Knight Riders were ultimately asked to choose a player who had to remain out of the ground for the final over. Kieron Pollard, the skipper of TKR, picked Sunil Narine as a player leaving the field, and as a result, he became the first recipient of the new red card rule in the Caribbean Premier League 2023.

“To be honest, it will take away the hard work everyone has done. We are like the pawns and we are going to do what we are told. We are going to play as fast as we can. If you are penalized for 30-45 seconds in a tournament like this, it is absolutely ridiculous.” said TKR captain Kieron Pollard while reacting to the episode
Kieron Pollard was seemingly unhappy and frustrated following the implementation of the red card amid the crucial fixture, as Trinbago were left with 10 players during the final 6 deliveries of the exact innings.
