Latest Cricket News: The highly anticipated One-Day International series between India and Australia is all set to commence tomorrow (Friday) in Mohali. The renowned IS Bindra Stadium will formally host the series opener of the exact three-match series, possibly in front of a packed crowd. The enthralling India-Australia is scheduled amid a short six-day window with the last two fixtures occurring on September 24 and 27 respectively.
The high-octane home ODI series against Australia will be team India’s final assignment before the World Cup 2023. Earlier this week, India had announced two different squads for the series – one for the first two fixtures and one for the last fixture. The three-match series provides the Indian team a massive opportunity to tick all the boxes heading into the home World Cup.
Latest Cricket News: Aakash Chopra Concerned About Ravindra Jadeja’s ODI Form
Meanwhile, former India batter Aakash Chopra went on to highlight Ravindra Jadeja’s worrisome form in 50-over Cricket during his recent YouTube video. Chopra brought light to Jadeja’s poor ODI numbers this year, both with the bat and ball. As things stand, Jadeja’s numbers aren’t pleasing, and a massive change in numbers is needed, believes the 46-year-old.
“We are talking about No. 8, but Ravindra Jadeja needs to score at No. 7. If you take out that innings of 45 not out, Jadeja’s average comes down to 15 in ODIs in 2023. Another worrying aspect is that he has played 243 balls this year, and is yet to hit a six. This is a bit shocking.” Aakash Chopra said
“Looking at his bowling in ODIs in 2023, it is again not a great story. He has claimed 11 wickets in 12 matches. Since the 2019 World Cup, he has been taking one wicket a game on average. Not a good thing with the World Cup coming up. The numbers are not good and they must change.” Chopra added on his YouTube channel
With the all-important World Cup 2023 heading closer, Ravindra Jadeja’s form seems to be a massive concern for Team India. Jadeja has scored a mere 138 runs this year with a below-par average of 23 in 12 ODI fixtures that he featured in. The 34-year-old has appeared off-colored with the ball in hand as well.
