Latest Cricket News: Zaheer Khan Influenced My Game The Most: Ishant Sharma
Meanwhile, veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma opened us up about the role of Zaheer Khan in his extensive Indian career. Sharma believes that his career would have been drastically different had Zaheer not acted as his mentor early on during his initial playing years. Sharma further revealed a major piece of bowling advice, received from Zaheer Khan, during a recent Jio Cinema interview.
“Zaheer Khan influenced my game the most. When I did not play on the England tour after my debut, I held the ball very tightly. So, I kept bowling a little shorter than I needed to. That’s where he made me change my grip.” said Ishant Sharma
“He told me ‘Use the tip of the two fingers and hold it loose because you have big hands and the ball will go farther and faster automatically.’ I used to go and chew his ears off.” Sharma further added during the interaction with Jio Cinema
Ishant Sharma has represented the national side in a whopping 202 International fixtures including all three formats. Having as many as 311 wickets to his name in red-ball cricket, the 34-year-old is considered a Test cricket legend of India. Sharma, however, currently does not appear in Team India’s scheme of things in any format.
