Kuldeep Yadav shines in his comeback ODI game at Eden Gardens.

In the ongoing ODI series between India and Srilanka, Kuldeep Yadav made a strong comeback in the team as the left-arm chinaman picked three big wickets in the middle overs which helped India restrict Srilanka to 215.

Kuldeep, who didn’t feature in the first game at Guwahati replaced Yuzvendra Chahal, who wasn’t 100% fit for this game.

Srilanka’s captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bat first. Srilanka had a good start as the visitors posted 100 runs for a loss of just a wicket in the first 16 overs.

But the twist came after the 16th over when the Indian captain Rohit Sharma introduced spin from both ends. And both the Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel responded very well to the call as they were able to give quick breakthroughs.

In a span of just 24 runs, Srilanka lost 5 wickets which came against the run of play for the visitors

After a good start for Srilanka, it was Kuldeep Yadav who brought India back into the game as he broke the 73 runs partnership between Kusal and debutant Nuwanidu. First, he got rid of Kusal Mendis, who has trapped LBW while missing a top spin.

From another end, Axar Patel cleaned up Dhananjaya de Silva for a golden duck and in a span of three balls, the visitors lost two wickets.

The situation even got worse when the debutant Nuwanidu got run out when he was found out of the crease after confusion between him and Asalanka while running between the wickets.

Last game Centurion Dasun Shanka failed to make a statement in this game as the Captain got clean bowled while trying to sweep Kuldeep. And in the following over Kuldeep got the better of Asalanka as well as he was caught and bowled off a leading edge.

The tailenders got out to Umran and Siraj and with it Srilanka out all out within 40 overs and at a score of 215. For India Siraj and Kuldeep picked three wickets each, Umran picked two and Axar got a single wicket to his name.
