Kuldeep Yadav, The chinaman was part of India’s squad for the two-match test series against Sri Lanka. Later, after the first test, he was released from the squad as Axar Patel. The left-arm spinner was added to the squad after the injury.
Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian vice-captain attended a press conference ahead of the pink-ball Test at Bengaluru. He was asked about the decision to release Kuldeep Yadav by a journalist. The right-arm pacer backed the team’s decision and clarified that the Chinaman has not been dropped. But given a break from bio-bubble as he is not a certainty in the team.
Kuldeep Yadav has been part of the Indian team consistently since the series against West Indies. He was also featured in the T20 series against Sri Lanka. Axar Patel is now set to play the pink ball test as he will be back in action after an injury break.
Jasprit Bumrah gives clarity in the press conference :
“See, Kuldeep hasn`t been dropped. He was in (the) bio-bubble for a very long time and didn’t get the opportunity to go home. Since his possibility of playing the second Test was a little less, he has been given rest to have some time with the family before the IPL,
The Player`s well-being is also very important because staying in the bubble is not so easy. Obviously, every player wants to play every game but the mental aspect is also important and whenever Kuldeep will get an opportunity, he will try to do his best. But at this point of time, the decision to give him rest was taken keeping in mind the two-month-long IPL, where he will be away from his family,
Axar Patel has added a lot of value whenever he has played, he offers a lot with the bat, ball, and the field. He was injured but he jumps straight back in when he’s fit. We`ll discuss our combination but of course, he’s valuable,”
