The recently-appointed Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer suffered a back-related injury during a test match between India and Australia at Ahmedabad. The incident occurred a week back and Iyer is unlikely to return back to Cricketing action anytime soon. The medical team of BCCI has advised Iyer to a 10-day rest period before the call on his IPL availability takes place.
As reported by Cricbuzz, the results of the initial scans were found to be bad and he was straightaway withdrawn from participating further in the Ahmedabad Test. After returning to his hometown, Mumbai, Iyer consulted specialist Abhay Nene, an expert with Bombay and Lilavati hospitals in the city, who treats spine complications.
