Team India took on Aaron Finch-led Australia in the series decider of the T20I series today (Sunday). Rohit Sharma and co. displayed clinical performance when it was needed the most in both departments which empowered them to register a significant victory over visitors Australia and eventually win the series by 2-1.
The Indian middle-order batters Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli starred for the hosts with match winning half-centuries. All-rounder Hardik Pandya finished things off in style, contributing with unbeaten 25 runs. Suryakumar Yadav was awarded with the player of the match award while Axar Patel received the player of the series award.
“It’s a special place. We have had great memories playing for India and when I played for Deccan Chargers as well. Biggest positive was different individuals stepping up and delivering. We took our chances, we were brave as well.” said the winning captain Rohit Sharma while concluding the post match presentation.
Glenn Maxwell’s bizarre dismissal:
The senior Australian middle-order batsman Glenn Maxwell lost his wicket in an unfortunate way. He was dismissed by a rather controversial mode of run out. The incident happened while the 33-year-old tried to steal a cheeky second run with Steven Smith being the batter at the other end.
As always, The decision of the run out was sent upstairs and replay surprisingly suggested that the Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik had dislodged the bail before the ball collided with the stumps, which gave an impression to the viewers as well as the players that Maxwell was not out.
Fortunately for the hosts, The second bail was visibly intact with the stumps and did not dislodged for the whole time until the ball made contact with the stumps and hence Maxwell had to walk back. The Australian batter was clearly not impressed and was seen expressing his anger on the field while walking back to the dugout.
Glenn Maxwell had an embarrassing outing in the three-match series. The marquee white-ball batter scored just 7 runs in three innings, which had an adverse effect on the team. He would now be itching to get back into form ahead of the all-important T20 World Cup 2022.
