IND vs SL: After achieving a remarkable victory in the first encounter of the ongoing T20I series, The Indian team faced a disappointing defeat in the second game at Pune. India displayed unprofessional performance in both departments which ultimately cost them a 16-run defeat. The scoreline of the three-match series now stands 1-1 with the last game of the series remaining to be played.
“Both bowling and batting, powerplay hurt us. We made basic errors which we shouldn’t do at this level. Surya had a fantastic run at four. Anyone who comes into the team, you want to give them a role they are comfortable in (talking about Rahul at three). Learning should be the basics we can control. ” said India captain Hardik Pandya following the Pune defeat
The defeat in the Pune game has raised multiple questions about India’s young lineup, especially the bowling unit. Indian bowlers were hammered for a whopping 206 runs in the second T20I which remained a prominent reason behind India’s defeat. The Men In Blue will now head straight to Rajkot for the highly-anticipated series decider, which will occur on Saturday (January 7).
The match went down to the wire but it is Sri Lanka who won the second T20I by 16 runs.

You have got to feel for Arshdeep Singh: Dinesh Karthik’s empathetic tweet
Meanwhile, the latest tweet from Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, reacting to Arshdeep Singh’s persistent no-balls has gone viral. In the tweet, Karthik virtually mentioned that the premier Indian pacer looked undercooked in his comeback game due to the ‘lack of match practice’. The 36-year-old India veteran further empathized with Singh in the exact tweet.
“You can have a bad day but shouldn’t be going away from basics. In this situation, it’s very difficult. In the past as well he’s bowled no-balls. It’s not about blaming but no ball is a crime.” said Indian captain Hardik Pandya while reacting to Arshdeep Singh’s no-balls
It was a day to forget for Arshdeep Singh in the second T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune. The Southpaw bowled as many as five no-balls, ending up bowling just two overs for the team. He went for a whopping 37 runs in just 2 overs, which turned out to be a big headache for Indian skipper Hardik Pandya. The 23-year-old was making a comeback in the side following an injury break.
