Three times the franchise has made it into the final but couldn’t win even once. Bangalore is one of three franchises that are from starting of the league but haven’t won a trophy.
One more step of IPL 2022 has been completed as the two new franchisees have picked their three draft picks. Now rest all the selected players will go under the hammer on 12th and 13th February.
Royal Challengers Bangalore has retained three players
Royal Challengers Bangalore has retained three players in form of Kohli for INR 15 crores, Glenn Maxwell for INR 11 crore, and Mohammed Siraj for INR 7 crore. Ab de Villiers who used to be a key player in the RCB set-up has retired from all forms of the game and he will no longer play for the franchise.
RCB has 57 crores coming into the auction and they could go all-in for a captain. Meanwhile, Aakash Chopra, a former Kolkata Knight Riders player selected the best captain candidate for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
On his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra suggests that RCB should go for Jason Holder, who had led the West Indies team in the past.
Aakash Chopra said-
“You have retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Siraj. Can any of them be the captain? Kohli could have been but he has said that he will not become the captain. In fact, now he is a ruler with no kingdom. He is the king of no kingdom at this point in time,”
“They can either think about Maxwell or let me just throw a name here – Jason Holder. He is an unassuming character, does not impose himself, he is absolutely perfect for a franchise like RCB. He will play all the matches, he knows how to run a team and he will never take the center stage,“ Chopra added.
