Team India has completed their home series against the Kiwis and now will travel to South Africa for the next series later this month. Now, news comes out in the center that Ishant Sharma may be dropped for South Africa Tour.
India’s dominance against the Kiwis
Team India’s new Head Coach Rahul Dravid completed both his first assignments T20I and Test series on a win. The Rohit Sharma-led T20 side whitewashed the Black Caps 3-0.
While in the Test series, the Black Caps were able to hold their nerves well in the first Kanpur Test as they were able to settle the test match for a draw. Indian bowling unit needed 9 wickets on last day but unfortunately could only take 8 wickets at the end of the play.
In the second test, Indian Skipper Virat Kohli returned from the break and led the side to a comprehensive victory of 372 runs. India won the series by 1-0. After the World Cup, this was the first home series and now the team will travel to South Africa.
India to tour South Africa later this month.
South Africa tour will have 3 test match series and a 3 ODI match series. The tour will begin on the Boxing day test match which is on 26th December. The T20I series has been postponed due to the outbreak of the latest COVID-19 Variant.
According to the latest report, India’s most Experienced pacer Ishant Sharma will be dropped for the tour. The pacer is struggling with injury and with his form as well.
The 33-year-old Pacer, Ishant Sharma may be dropped from the side.
With the form shown by the young emerging Pacer Mohammed Siraj, the Indian selectors might go ahead with him instead of Ishant. Team India will also get their key pacer who was on break. With the return of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami in the team with Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma could find it difficult to make a cut for the South Africa tour.
Ishant Sharma has played 105 test matches for Team India where he has taken 311 wickets. The experienced pacer has taken 11 five-wicket hauls and 1 ten-wicket haul. His best bowling figures of 7/74 were against England at the famous Lord’s victory in 2014.
Ishant last played against New Zealand at Kanpur where he bowled 22 overs and went wicket-less. Later it was reported that he has dislocated his little left finger, then he was dropped from the Mumbai test.
