After achieving consecutive triumphs in the first two games of the ongoing Test series against Australia, the Indian players have returned to their respective homes. India has retained the series and the players have been given a week long break before they gather in Indore for the third test. The preparations for the third test, scheduled to occur in Indore, are likely to kick off later this week.
It has been a dominating outing for Rohit Sharma-led India in the four-match Test series against Australia, popularly known as the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Both the opening two matches concluded on the third day of the play itself, with India registering remarkable wins. The Indian team appears undefeatable at the moment in home conditions. It will certainly take a significant effort from Australia to make a comeback in the ongoing series.
Is Rohit Sharma is fit to Lead Team India as looks a bit overweight on TV: Kapil Dev
Meanwhile, former Indian captain Kapil Dev has criticized current Indian captain Rohit Sharma for not keeping up with necessary fitness standards. Dev believes, being the captain of the national side, it is crucial to be extremely fit. He further added that Sharma appears overweight on television, at the same time, praised his batting. He cited an example of Virat Kohli during the same discussion of ABP news.
“It is very important (to be fit). More so for a captain. It’s a shame if you are not fit. Rohit needs to put some hard work on it. He is a great batter but when you talk about his fitness, he looks a bit overweight, at least on TV. Yes, it’s different when you look at someone on TV and then in real life.” said Kapil Dev
“But from whatever I see, Rohit is a great player and a great captain, but he needs to get fit. Look at Virat, whenever you see him, you say, ‘that’s some fitness!” the veteran India captain further added on ABP news
Rohit Sharma is currently the leading run-getter in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023. The opening batter made headlines with a century in the series opener at Nagpur followed by decisive cameos in the second Test. Sharma has been India’s key batter in across formats in the last few months and will play an important role in deciding the outcome of the ongoing series.
