What comes as shocking news for the fans of the Kolkata-based team is that Australian Pacer Pat Cummins is set to get ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a minor injury. The development has created chaos on social media.
The sigh of relief is the not so harsh nature of the injury. Cummins has headed to his home at Sydney. The Australian red-ball captain has already started the recovery process and is likely to be available for Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka next month.
Pat Cummins looked impressive throughout the season and played a major role in their last win against Mumbai Indians. He also registered the joint-fastest fifty in the history of the league against the same opponents. The Australian managed to scalp 7 wickets so far in the season.
Safe to say, it will be extremely tough for Kolkata to recover from this blow. It is unlikely for KKR to announce an immediate replacement. The franchise will look at the Indian pacer Shivam Mavi (who is already in their squad) to fill in the void of Pat Cummins
