CSK vs RR: MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings battled it out with Rajasthan Royals yesterday (April 12) in the recent most fixture of the Indian Premier League 2023. The renowned MA Chidambaram Stadium of Chennai hosted the electrifying Chennai-Rajasthan game, which turned out to be a last-ball thriller. Visitors Rajasthan Royals achieved a close 3-run victory in the match as their premier pacer Sandeep Sharma defended 21 runs off the final over.
It was Chennai Supr Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni, who was on strike when his team needed 5 runs on the last delivery. Dhoni failed to executive a lofted shot against a spot-on yorker from Sandeep Sharma on the exact delivery. Ravichandran Ashwin was named the player of the match for his all-rounder performance while Ravindra Jadeja remained as Chennai’s pick of the players. It was the second defeat for MS Dhoni’s Chennai in their last 4 matches of the ongoing IPL season.
Sisanda Magala set to miss two weeks’ IPL action for CSK
Meanwhile, what emerges as an extensive development from Chennai Super Kings’ camp is that their pacer Sisanda Magala has suffered a split webbing hand injury. The injury episode occurred during the recent Chennai-Rajasthan game when Magala was attempting a catch. The South African pacer left the field immediately after the catch and did not return to bowl in the remainder of the fixture. Magala is now all set to miss at least two weeks of cricketing action due to the same.
We have lost another player two games in a row and we are already pretty thin, so we would like it to stop. Magala’s hand was split, unfortunately, so he was unable to bowl those last two overs. Same with Deepak Chahar in the last game. We are operating on thin resources.” said CSK head coach Stephan Fleming in an interview
Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephan Fleming confirmed the update during a mid-match interview yesterday (Wednesday). Fleming also stated that skipper MS Dhoni is managing a knee injury, which has been restricting his ability to move fluently. Earlier, last week, Chennai’s fast bowling spearhead Deepak Chahar suffered a hamstring injury and he is unlikely to return to play for the team in the remainder of the season.
