April 18: Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns with the Rajasthan Royals in their 6th game of the season. The teams were led by Shreyas Iyer and wicket-keeper Sanju Samson respectively, The encounter took place at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Rajasthan Royals were forced to bat first after losing the toss. However, It turned out to be a blessing in disguise for the team as Jos Buttler slammed a century. The skipper too played a crucial inning of 38 off 19 deliveries.
Kolkata Knight Riders fell short by just 7 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal, The RR leg-spinner took a hat-trick and a fifer, He was named the player of the match. However, The fact cannot be denied that the Iyer-led side showed a great fight taking the game to the last over. Shreyas Iyer, Aron Finch, and Umesh Yadav shined for the franchise with the bat.
Iyer scored 85 runs and was the pick of the batsmen from the Kolkata Knight Riders. Other than him, Aaron Finch was the one who kept the team in the game as he scored 58 off just 28 deliveries. When everything seemed done for KKR, Umesh Yadav, The pacer managed to scalp 2 towering sixes, turning the momentum of the match.
Shreyas Iyer Lashes Out At Brendon McCullum:
Towards the end of the 2nd innings, Iyer, The captain was seen exchanging some tough words with the head coach and the former batsman of KKR. Though, The actual words could not be figured out. The chat seemed to one end and was animated.
Allegedly, The chat between the two was regarding the batting position fumble. After the batting line-up of the side ended, Pat Cummins, The Australian all-rounder was not sent to bat. Shivam Mavi was sent ahead of him. The move by the management surprised everyone including the commentators.
The users on social media, too, did not look impressed with the rude gesture by Shreyas Iyer. It was believed that the right-hand batsman could have said the things he had to say inside the dressing room and not in public.
