Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore were involved in a huge bidding war for Karun Nair. The 30-year-old was unsold in the first round of the auction. However, He featured In the accelerated auction and was picked by Rajasthan Royals for a huge amount of INR 1.40 crore.
Karun Nair, The right-hand middle-order batsman is a capped Indian. He made his debut for India in ODI and Test cricket in 2016. He has been part of Karnataka in the domestic setup.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t get any bid in the first round of the mega auction which was taking place in Bangalore. The base price of Karun Nair was 50 lakhs and it was validated by the bidding war between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals in the accelerated auction (Second round).
In the end, Rajasthan Royals were successful to make the right-hander part of their squad after the bidding war. He was sold to Rajasthan Royals for a massive 1.40 crore.

The Karnataka boy will be indeed featuring for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022 and is likely to be a backup middle-order batsman.
Karun Nair is a hugely experienced middle-order batsman in the domestic circuit. He is capped Indian and has played for India in ODI and test cricket.
The middle-order batsman is known for his triple-hundred against England in test cricket. Surprisingly, after that match, he rarely featured in India’s 11 and is not part of the current scheme of things as well.
The IPL mega auction was a two-day event that was held in Bangalore. The mega event took place on February 12 and 13. The event was hugely anticipated and a total of 610 players was featured during the two days. Some big names from world cricket were part of the auction.
Kumar Sangakara has been a veteran of Sri Lanka cricket. Rajasthan Royals were led by Coach Kumar Sangakara on the auction table.
The mega event was attended by all BCCI officials including BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, Secretary Jay Shah, and Treasurer Arun Dhumal. Pragyan Ojha who is governing council member also attended the event.
